Bluegrass Barbecue Bonanza, an annual festival of bluegrass music and Southern barbecue is slated Saturday, Aug. 26 at St. Matthias’ Episcopal Church in Seaside.
The event begins at 6 p.m., and combines a bluegrass concert by the Fog Valley Drifters, tri-tip or chicken barbecue with complimentary wine or beer, and a silent auction featuring gift certificates and specialty items from around the world.
Tickets, priced at $28 per person for the barbecue and concert, are available from Janet Eswein, 372-7967 or the Rev. Susan Miller, 624-3375. Please reserve your meal by Aug. 16. Concert-only tickets are also available at $15. Please arrive at 8 p.m. for the concert.
Last year’s event was a sellout. The Fog Valley Drifters is featured at venues all over Northern California. The popular bluegrass group includes Rachel Bennett, singer, songwriter and mandolin player, who is a teacher at Seaside High School. Chuck Hurd, on banjo, is a retired Carmel Valley Middle School vice principal and U.S. Army colonel. Other members are Ross Redding, guitarist, and Al Tsacle, fiddle, both of Modesto, and Brooks Judd, bass guitar, of Turlock.
The Southern barbecue dinner includes complimentary wine courtesy of Ventana Vineyards, and complimentary beer and soft drinks from Elyxir Distributing.
The concurrent silent auction will feature gift certificates from dozens of local restaurants and shops, baskets of local wine and food, soothing "spa" treatments, items for the home, antiques, jewelry and gifts from around the world.
St. Matthias is located at 1092 Noche Buena (corner of Kimball and Noche Buena) in Seaside.
