Mesgana Dancers in Los Gatos

Saint Luke's Los Gatos will host the Mesgana Dancers, an Ethiopian dance troupe made up of girls ages 7 to 12, on September 8th. The troupe will visit the Bay area in September as part of their 2007 US performance tour. The group is a project of the Children of Ethiopia Education Fund (COEEF), a nonprofit organization promoting education for girls in that East African nation. The work being done by COEEF addresses the Millennium Development Goals of achieving universal primary education and promoting gender equality. The Vestry and Clergy have agreed that our parish should support the Mesgana Dancers’ visit. We’re planning several fun activities for them on Saturday, September 8, including: A TRAIN TRIP THROUGH THE REDWOODS ON ROARING CAMP RAILROAD, A SATURDAY NIGHT POTLUCK HOSTED BY THE DE SANTIS FAMILY, and the DANCE PERFORMANCES.

TRAIN TRIP THROUGH THE REDWOODS ON ROARING CAMP RAILROAD
We’ve reserved seats for the dancers and their chaperones on the 11 AM train Sat, Sept 8. We’ll also provide picnic box lunches for the group to enjoy on the grounds of Roaring Camp afterwards. You can help by:
• Donating toward the cost of train tickets and box lunches for the troupe
• Reserving seats on the train for your family and spending time with the dancers
• Bringing some bottled water, soda or juice to share with the dancers on the train ride and picnic
We’ve arranged for a group ticket rate of $15.95 for adults, and $10.95 for kids. You must reserve and pay for your tickets through St. Luke’s by Tues, Sept 4, to receive the special price. St. Luke’s families should plan to bring their own lunches, plus drinks to share.
