Resolved, The Ecclesiastical Authority (Standing Committee) of the Diocese of El Camino Real, in consultation with the Joint Process Committee, recommends that the Waiting Period in Step 3 of the timeline for the Transition Process be continued until the Diocesan Convention in January 2006 at which time the Convention will decide to extend or end it. The purpose of extending the waiting period is for the purpose of accomplishing the following preparatory work to begin the search process:
| January 15, 2004 – Embracing the Possibilities: Recognizing our Polarities |
| Small group exercise at Convention Polarities are unsolvable and unavoidable and so we have to learn how to manage them. |
| January/February 2005 – Share our history in Deanery meetings |
| It is impossible to understand the present without understanding the past. |
| Early March 2005 – Thinking Outside of the Box: Understanding Our Connections |
| How might we do ministry in our diocese? Learn more about grass roots ministry, the Taskforce 2020 challenge from the national church, and 10/10/10 |
| April 23, 2005 – Understanding our Connections: Telling our Stories |
| Come together as a diocese to share what we learned about our history in the Deanery meetings. Begin to identify our “norms” – those unwritten rules by which we live – in order to better understand what is dysfunctional and needs to be fixed. Identifying norms will also help us to begin to establish some priorities. |
| June 25, 2005 – Be Known by our Actions |
| Using what we have learned in our previous meetings together, we will come to a shared understanding of our core values |
| July-August, 2005 – Who do YOU say that we are? |
| We will conduct interviews with various leaders, constituencies and stakeholders in our broader communities in order to understand the collaborative opportunities, mission field, and community perceptions of ECR. |
| September 24, 2005 – People, GET READY!! |
| Using all that we have discovered about ourselves and our community, we will affirm our identity and establish our vision and mission for ECR. |
| October 29, 2005 – Ordinary Time for Extraordinary People |
| Celebratory liturgy! Begin to develop strategies for implementing our mission. |
| January 2006 – Celebration of launch of new Mission |
