Canon Jan Wood takes a new position....
Jan Wood writes,
I hope you will share my delight in this news. I have just accepted an invitation from Donn Morgan, Dean and President, to become the next Dean of Students for the Church Divinity School of the Pacific! I am very excited about this opportunity and very grateful for the wonderful time spent ministering in El Camino Real with all of you as your Canon Educator. I expect that my last day as your Canon Educator will be March 13th.
Peace be with you!
The Standing Committee accepts Jan's resignation with great sadness and awareness of the gifts our diocese is losing, but with the knowledge that she will now bring her wonderful skills, insights and guidance to students, faculty and staff at CDSP.
The Conference Planning Team invites you...
On Saturday, Feb. 26 the whole diocese is invited to gather together with Bishop Leidel, as he leads a conversation on spirituality and discernment, based on his book Awakening Grassroots Spirituality. This promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking day with time for reflection, small group conversation, and dialogue with the Bishop. We have described this time as doing 'soul' work , a time to better understand our own sense of mission and ministry - a time of personal enrichment for each of us. We will also honor Jan Wood during lunch for the wonderful service she has provided all of us in her years in ECR. We will meet at St. Paul's, Salinas from 10-2 with registration at 9:30. To register call Susan Altig at (831)394-4465 or write susan@edecr.org .
On Friday, February 25: Bishop Romero has invited the leadership of The Diocese, including the newly formed Funding Review Committee, to share together in dialogue with Bishop Leidel. This conversation will focus on the more tactical questions of mission and ministry as it is done in the Diocese of E. Michigan and how their people understand the relationship between what they do and how they fund it. This understanding will give us insight into our own situation and provide a model of doing ministry.
This time with Bishop Leidel is being sponsored by the Conference Planning Team, Council, Corporation, and Standing Committee, as part of the Process leading to the calling of our third Bishop.
