Diocesan Structure Review:
Diocesan Canon 2.4 requires that every five years "the Standing Committee shall cause to be presented to the Convention a written evaluation of our Diocese, its structures, programs and ministries, its leadership and financial condition and the ways in which adopted objectives have been met." The next evaluation of the diocese is due in 2006.
A Resolution adopted at Diocesan Convention last January directed "the Standing Committee to arrange an ad hoc committee to review the organizational structures of the diocese and make appropriate organizational structures recommendations to the next annual convention of the diocese."
In response to the Canon and the Convention Resolution, the Standing Committee adopted the following resolution at its meeting on November 10, 2005:
Whereas Canon 2.4 mandates a written evaluation of the diocese be done every five years and the next evaluation due in 2006, and whereas the 25th Convention of the Diocese directed the Standing Committee to arrange an ad hoc committee to review the organizational structures of the diocese and make appropriate organizational structures recommendations to the next Annual Convention of the diocese, it is resolved that the Standing Committee will arrange a committee and engage a qualified outside consultant to assist the committee in the required process of evaluation, review and recommendation. Further resolved, that money accrued for the 5-year written evaluation will be used to fund this process, and the results and recommendation will be reported to the October 2006 meeting of Convention.
